Meet Helena | Test and Release Lead

I’ve previously worked for the NHS and ambulance service, so APD felt like a nice progression for me and once I found out more about the role, it felt right - the role suited me and my skills.

I joined the team in June 2003 as a Support Engineer – 16 years and five promotions later, I am now the Test and Release Lead responsible for a team of ten who test activity and releases before we send them to a customer.

My career history is testament to APD’s positive culture, I have constantly been encouraged and supported to apply for new roles. My strengths and skills have been recognised and I’ve never been held back – which is refreshing and empowering.

The training I have received has been first class – I’ve qualified in ISTQB and am a qualified PSM1 and PSPO1, which arms me with the tools I need to do my job.

My past roles within APD have been Senior SQA, Delivery Lead and SCRUM master – each of these roles has taught me different skills and help me grow as a person.

If I was to describe APD in just three words – they would be Friendly, Open and Rewarding.

And what I mean by open, is that its open to change, open to new ideas and processes – it’s not stuck in its ways which allows you to make good progress.

There’s a real sense of team spirit within the business, a real camaraderie – we celebrate achievements, work together and help each other daily.

APD is the business it is, because of its people – yes, I love the products and what they do but it’s how we achieve the results as a team that makes it a special place to work.
